Biography

Dr. Nigam H. Shah has served as a member of our board of directors since June 2026. Dr. Shah is Professor of Medicine and of Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University School of Medicine and serves as Chief Data Scientist for Stanford Health Care, a role he has held since 2022. His research focuses on the use of data and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve patient care and health system performance, with more than 350 publications in journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Journal of the American Medical Association, and The Lancet. Dr. Shah has co-founded three healthcare technology companies and also serves on the boards of Prealize Health and Atropos Health. He is also a co-founder of the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI), which develops guidelines for the responsible use of AI in healthcare. Dr. Shah is a Fellow of the Association of American Physicians and the American College of Medical Informatics as well as an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. He received his M.B.B.S. from Baroda Medical College, M.S. University of Baroda, India, and his Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Shah's service on our board of directors brings his extensive expertise in healthcare data science, AI, and clinical informatics to support the use of technology and AI for BrightSpring, patients, and other key stakeholders in healthcare.
